About ME

Pete Martin, MA

I live in one of the most beautiful parts of Ireland - West Cork. I’m particularly interested in photographing the everyday amazing and unusual be that scenery, the coastline, boats and objects that I come across as I explore this unique landscape.

The way that nature reclaims objects and shapes our surroundings also fascinates me especially the effects of erosion and decay on both natural and artificial structures.

One of my passions is cycling and I enjoy taking unusual images of the sport. Being on the bike also gives me a different perspective of my surroundings often leading me to unexpected encounters. Cycling is also a global community full of interesting and generous individuals who share the same love of this extraordinary machine.

I’m a lifelong socialist and try to embed these principles in the way that I take photographs and approach subjects.

Along with the photography I run a small bespoke picture framing workshop, Red Door Framing, working with artists and photographers in West Cork and further afield. I’m lucky to be surrounded by very talented people and it is a real joy to work closely with local artists. You can look up Red Door Framing on Facebook where you will find contact details - feel free to get in touch to discuss your framing requirements.
